Aloha! My name is Sydni Kim, and I am a junior majoring in accounting and finance at the Shidler College of Business. I have been fortunate to do two homestays in Japan during high school, as well as travel to Korea, Taiwan, and have a layover in China, where I was able to see the Great Wall! Because of these experiences, I have gained a love for traveling and learning about new cultures. In addition, I have been a member of the International Business Organization for the past 2 years, and attending the Global Analysis Workshops and other culturally focused events have inspired me to study abroad!
I will be studying abroad at Seoul National University in the fall. I am looking forward to immersing myself in the Korean culture, eating delicious food, and meeting new people! This will be my second time in Seoul, and I am hoping to explore new and exciting places. I definitely want to take advantage of SNU's location away from the city to explore nature and go on a few hikes. I hope that upon my return, I will be able to share my knowledge with others and make a difference in the Shidler community.
Fun facts:
I cannot handle spicy food without chugging water after, so we shall see what I end up eating while in Korea.
I also love dairy and am a sucker for sweets, especially bingsu.
I lived in Hawaii my entire life, but I still do not like the texture of raw fish (aka poke bowls).
I have been working at my local McDonald's for 4 years, and I'm lovin' it! Every time I go on trips, I take pictures of every McDonald's I see because I think it's so cool how each country modifies their restaurant to cater to the local culture.
